Wednesday Recipe

On this week’s Wednesday recipe I am reblogging a recipe that caught my attention. I did bake scones on Sunday ready for today’s post but something went very wrong and they didn’t grow at all … even the second time round 😭 It was a stressful Sunday ! So have a look at this blogger ! Many tasty recipes here 🙂

Life of an El Paso Woman

Hi everyone and happy Thursday! Me and my son finally put up TWO Christmas trees in the last couple of days! We have a regular one and a Charlie Brown tree 🙂 I’ll be doing a post in the next few days. Today I’m taking you back to a post I did last year. If you don’t have an idea on which type of cookie to make for Christmas…Biscochos might be a good idea. They aren’t really that hard to make. The cinnamon, anise flavored cookies are a favorite here in El Paso and inmany Americansouthwest cities. According to E Reference Desk, the cookies are so popular they were adapted as the official New Mexicocookie in 1989. The cookie/recipe was brought by the earlySpanish settlers. Besides Christmas,Biscochos aremade for specialoccasions like wedding receptions andbaptisms. What are yourfavorite desserts and foods for Christmastime? Feel free to share them in the comments…

Dance Dance Dance!

These photos pretty much sum up yesterday’s afternoon! At this particular moment they were dancing to Can’t Stop The Feeling by Justin Timberlake and lovin it!

Moments like these are to treasure! To see them happy, smiling and laughing that’s what it’s all about! Of course I couldn’t pass the oportunity of to take some photos so I can ,in later years, show them how much fun they used to have when litte.

They will be four in a few days.. Time is flying by .. All I can do is create the best memories I can for them.

Hope you all have a lovely Thursday!

Wednesday Recipe!

I havn’t been very active on the ‘wednesday recipe’ lately I know. Simply because I havn’t been baking as much. But santa give me a new recipe book and I promissed to try and bake every recipe from it ! Let’s see how that goes 😂

So I started with this one! Hot Cross Buns!

This is my second try at it . On sunday I baked some and I am pretty sure no one would even look at them twice ! I’ve missread the oven temperatures and they burned… Bad! 😂

But you learn from your mistakes right?

So these were baked yesterday and they look yummy!Ok maybe they don’t look how hot cross buns should look but trust me when I say they taste amazing!

This recipe belongs to one of my favourite bakers ever! Mary Berry! Google her! You shall find amazing recipes!

So here’s what you will need:

  • 450g white flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp mixed spice
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tbs freshly grated nutmeg
  • 7g fast action yeast
  • 50g caster sugar
  • 50g butter melted,cooled
  • 150ml tepid milk
  • 5tbsp tepid water
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 75g currants
  • 2 baking sheets

For the glazing:

  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp water

How to :

  1. Lightly grease the baking sheets
  2. Measurethe flour, salt, spices, yeast and sugar in a bowl and mix.Make a hole in the centre and pour in the melted butter, milk, water and egg, then add the currants.
  3. mix to a soft dough and knead for about 10m on a floured surface.Transfer to an oiled bowl and cover with clingfilm.Let it rito to double the size, about 1h30 in a warm room.
  4. Move the dough to a floured surface and knead for another 2-3 minutes. Divide the dough in 12 equal parts and shape each to a round bun.Make a cross on the top of each bunwith a knife and place them on the baking sheetscovered with clingfil. Let it rise again for another 30minutes.Preheat the oven to 220, 200 fan,gas 7.
  5. Bake the buns for about 15minutes until brown. While the buns are baking dissolve the sugar in the water over a gentle heat.As soon as the buns come out the oven brush them with the glaze.

There you are! Beautiful yummy buns!

Hope you enjoy it!

Tuesday Flower!

If someone could help me identify the first photo I would really appreciate it! I’ve been looking online and can’t find anything even similar to it! I usualy find them growing in tiny wholes on old walls aroung the village where I live. They have a cotton like texture . They are very interesting looking with their long spider legs (thats what they look like to me) .

Hope you all have a lovely day.
